Day 12 - time away!

Really thankful for time away with my hubby from the "normal" routine. I've always heard it's important for couples to get away, and spend time together. I can definitely see the benefits. It's in these breaks that we get to just relax and be free with each other. That could be sitting quietly and just reading, or taking a walk and dreaming. I am thankful we had the opportunity to get away this weekend for our friend's wedding and add an extra night to celebrate our anniversary!

Day 10

I am thankful for weddings! The public declaration of love and commitment, the beautiful glowing bride and her handsome groom, and just the general excitement and well wishes to be had. I love celebrating this wonderful gift and I'm thankful for my marriage!

Here are a few photos of the wedding we went to this weekend!

Two years!

We celebrated our two year anniversary on Monday. It is crazy how it feels so normal, like we've always been married and always will be. The past two years have been better than I imagined. Truly a gift.

One of my favorite photos, I posted on facebook:
"Two years of love and adventure."

I surprised Matt last Tuesday, November 1st. He got home from work and I quickly told him, go put on the clothes that are on your bed, you have 60 seconds, and we have a date. He kept asking me questions, but I was determined not to give anything away. We set off to Charlotte - about a two hour drive. We arrived at The Fillmore, a pretty cool venue. I had him close his eyes and I put an envelope in his hands. He opened it and saw our tickets for The David Crowder band, Seven Tour. This is their final tour, and they had quite the entourage with them. John Mark McMillan, Chris August and Gungor all did acoustic sets. Matt was totally surprised and remarked, "I never would have asked for this." Which, was the point. The concert was great and we had a wonderful night, complete with Cook-Out Milkshakes on the way home.

Here are a few photos from my surprise!

All smiles:

John Mark McMillan, he's from Charlotte!

Chris August - he's funny!

Gungor: amazing talent.

David Crowder Band - so good!

For our anniversary on Monday we went to dinner at a local Japanese place and watched some of our wedding video. This weekend Matt is taking me on a get-away, but I don't know where we are going! Then, next week we are off to Charleston for Matt to have a training session for work. Lots to look forward to.

Our Anniversary!

We celebrated our anniversary last week(ish). The weekend was full, we made a very quick trip to NC for some friends wedding celebration, looked at a few possible places to live in Southern Pines, and ventured back to Tybee late Saturday night. We wanted to be in town on our actual anniversary and not on the road all day. On Sunday we visited with a friend that had been staying at our townhouse on Tybee, went to church and brunch at our favorite spot B. Matthews in Savannah.

In the evening we went out to the beach to exchange gifts. It was getting pretty chilly because the sun was going down, but it was really cool to celebrate out on our special beach! I gave Matt some flip flops for beach/pool wear, and some Chacos. He gave me the traditional first year gift, paper in two forms. He got me a subscription to Real Simple and gave me a book about women in the workplace, The Male Factor, by Shaunti Feldhahn. Then he gave me the modern anniversary gift (clock). I got two super cute clocks to place wherever we land next. On Saturday we'd picked up Chickfila nuggets as a tribute to our reception, so we ate those on the beach. For dinner we made BLT's (we'd gone out the week before on Tybee) and ate a yummy dessert Matt had picked up at a local shop.

Here are a few pictures of our celebration!

Cute/Cheesy

Today I got a manicure. I was looking at the OPI colors and found the one I had on my nails last year at this exact time for our wedding. I was super excited, as our anniversary is Sunday.

I'm a dork, but it's the little things. Check it out, Dulce De Leche.
